The old painters, the old masters, were the first to paint with light. Their art still inspire us nowadays. You’ll be amazed if you thoroughly study their paintings. The way they use light and shadows to bring a portrait to life.
Switzerland-based photographer Christian Tagliavini must have been studying these painters , because his absolutely amazing portraits have that particular style.
Most of us will not get to this level, but before shooting your next portrait (studio)shoot, go to a museum and study the old masters.
